It all began with a startling turn in my career: while working as a dental hygienist, a role I held for 15 years, I developed an essential tremor. This condition made it impossible to continue in my profession and propelled me into a new direction. My diagnosis, though initially a source of fear and uncertainty, marked the start of my holistic journey.

I first sought answers in a CBD shop, where I was given a sample and minimal information about potential benefits for my condition. This lack of guidance was a recurring theme as I visited various shops, trying multiple CBD tinctures with little effect. Undeterred, my husband and I embarked on extensive research. We learned about different CBD extraction methods, the importance of the source hemp, and terms like broad-spectrum, full-spectrum, isolate, the endocannabinoid system, CB1 & CB2 receptors, terpenes, and flavonoids.

Our research highlighted a stark reality: the United States was significantly behind countries like Israel, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic in cannabis research. We realized that high-quality research was scarce, primarily due to restrictive laws. Over time, I discovered a particularly effective CBD extract in a water-soluble form, which provided immediate relief for my tremor—this was a game changer.

Empowered by these discoveries, I decided to share this knowledge widely. I formed an LLC and began presenting at farmers’ markets and health fairs. With a deep understanding of cannabis, effective products, and direct experience in consumer sales, I was ready to open a brick-and-mortar store. Over the last two years, I have managed to stay off medications for blood pressure, cholesterol, and back pain due to my CBD regimen—monitored and supported by my doctor.

Bee’s Wellness Café officially received its certificate of occupancy on March 13, 2020, the day the pandemic lockdown was declared. Despite these challenging circumstances, we persevered and opened to the public on June 1. The support from our community has been overwhelming, with customers often expressing admiration for our resilience during such turbulent times.

I did not return to my dental hygienist career, understanding now that there was a bigger plan for me. I encourage everyone to question the conventional paths and to consider alternatives like CBD. More and more customers come to us following recommendations from their doctors.
